Attention Deficit Disorder/Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADD/ADHD) is a brain disorder manifested through an ongoing pattern of inattention and/or hyperactivity-impulsivity that interferes with functioning or development. Some people with ADHD only have problems with one of the behaviors, while others, such as most children, have both inattention and hyperactivity-impulsivity.
While it’s normal to have some inattention, unfocused motor activity and impulsivity, for people with ADHD these behaviors are more severe, occur more often, interfere with or reduce the quality of how they function socially, at school, or in a job.
Hyperactivity is predominantly present in young children, and it seems to lessen in adolescence and show more often as feelings of restlessness or fidgeting. The inattention and impulsivity may remain, and many adolescents with ADHD also seem to struggle with relationships and antisocial behaviors. In adulthood, inattention, restlessness, and impulsivity tend to continue. Adults with undiagnosed ADHD may have a history of poor academic performance, issues at work, or problematic or failed relationships.
Vision therapy techniques can benefit children and adults, and at Vision Development Center of Lancaster, we offer programs designed to address very specific sets of vision disorders displayed by an individual patient.
Vision Therapy can help an individual pay attention by developing and improving visual skills that include visual tracking, fixation, focus change, binocular fusion and visualization. As a result, children and adults can, among other things, sustain attention, read and write without careless errors, give meaning to what they hear and see, and rely less on movement to stay alert.
Our therapy program is based on the needs of the individual, and most of our patients experience full results upon its completion, and are mainly free from ADD/ADHD symptoms or able to lower medication dosage, and/or stop taking medication.
The world renowned Doctor Arthur Seiderman’s program includes Drug – Free, Non- Invasive, Natural Treatments for symptoms of ADD and ADHD that can change your life, or the life of your loved one.
While the majority of our patients are children, we are also able to help adults with their treatments and exercises. We encourage you to take our free symptoms survey to see if you may benefit from the vision therapy.
